FRIDAYDuring the day I was having fun in front of the camera for an NBA team's pre-game pump video that will play on the Jumbotron before their games, a pretty cool gig that I got to do with my pal Choe, my brother and his friend Adam. Friday night around 9 pm I decided to meet my brother at Stadium Pizza in the North Loop, we eventually ended up meeting up with some of my girlfriends at The Front in Nordeast where we danced to a bunch of killer tunes! Finally we ended up at Uncle Bucks, it is not my normal scene at all but I didn't hate it. We maybe have danced on some platforms and I even got proposed to but my girls and I were safely back at their uptown apartment ordering sandwiches by 1:30 am - like the good little ladies that we are! SATURDAYMy brother, my girl Shelly and I went to visit our good friend Ferg at his place of employment - Smack Shack; They have delicious brunch and the mimosas aren't even that expensive. It was a delightful way to get the day started. I spent the rest of the day around the house catching up on sleep, writing, doing laundry, washing my hair, things a girl needs to do but never has the time. I took an evening nap and planned on going out to support my dude DJ BIG DOG but the nap got a bit long and when I awoke at bar close I had to stay up a few hours and write because there was nothing else to do. haha Saturday night FAIL. SUNDAYI slept in after my weird Saturday sleep schedule, I brunched breifly, I grocery shopped, I cleaned a bit and then I binged on movies. It was not spontaneous or glamorous but I really enjoyed my relaxing Sunday and am feeling very serene as I write this. I treated myself with a bit of pampering the best of which was this new product that Intelligent Nutrients is in the process of testing, with the help of lucky people like me! I am excited to add this cleansing gel to the rest of my beauty routine, now that it is fall things get dry and we need to change things up a bit! I hope that everyone else had a great weekend and is ready to tackle this week's challenges with a clear mind and strong sense of self!

Beauty products for moving into fall. LIP CARE! So important for colder temps.Intelligent Nutrients is one of my favorite Minneapolis companies and this lip balm is a heaven-send, I am thankful for it everyday. But I get even more crazy about it right now because with colder temperatures come dry, cracked, split lips. No one wants to make out with lips that feel like mountains, so do yourself a favor and grab one, or three, of these bad boys. Many thanks for IN for being such an awesome company, to Horst Rechelbacher for always thinking outside the box and putting the planet first. Also a huge thank you to the staff who invited me for a product testing and then sent me home with goodies, these are the kinds of opportunities that make this blog possible. LIP SCRUBS, what an amazing innovation that was, whenever it happened. I obtained my first lip scrub due to my interview with Elixery for Sol Inspirations. Many, many thanks to Elixery and their Principal Alchemist Karoline Wells for having me into the laboratory, it was so cool to see where their products are created. I felt so blessed to leave with a bag full of stuff to sample. One of those goodies was the amazing LIP SCRUB, it tastes like sugar, tingles the perfect amount when you rub it on and did an all around amazing job of exfoliating my rough lips. The craziest, and slightly unfortunate part, is that this product is not available for purchase yet! Very sorry folks! For the time being I know that LUSH has some amazing lip scrubs in that case that you need some pronto! But I urge you to be on the look out for this one by Elixery because buying local is one of the best ways to minimize your beauty routine's impact on the planet. Whether you are going back to school as a student or a teacher, or you are starting a new job and nothing out of the ordinary is happening in your life I am guessing you currently have stress to deal with and this line of products from Aveda is called stress-fix. I love all the whole collection: body lotion, soaking salts and a .24 fl ounce concentrate of the lavender, lavandin and clary sage oils that are used in the whole line of products. My soul smiled when I found out that the lavender in this these products is from an organic farm, purchasing things that are grown organically is so much better for the planet and I can only assume for your body. Plus lavender is proven to relieve stress and the new season can mean school, a new schedule, a new job, whatever your new challenge might be - fall related or not - a bath with stress-fix soaking salts can really do the trick. I took two baths in the month of September after I put the salts on the bath instead of under the cupboard, the salts just sat there and begged to be used, it resulted in two more hours of me time than I would have taken otherwise. BOOYA. Sinus Rinse, yes it goes in & out of your nose & is kinda gross but super awesome. This product won't necessarily contribute to your outer physical beauty but it will do wonders for your ability to breath clearly, which is so important and a lot of people struggle with whether or not they realize it. When people talk about 'netty-pots' this is an example of what they mean, I personally use this netty pot system, called NeilMed Sinue Rinse kit that I purchased at Costco for under twenty dollars and it will last me almost a year. I personally have stronger reactions to poor indoor air quality but sometimes the change of seasons can give me a ton of sinus pressure, nothing gives me more relief that using my netty pot. The trick is that you have to be committed to it, it is an everyday thing, I do it once in the morning and if I have the energy I do it again at night. Also it is gross, it will be hella weird the first time you do it and you might even gag a little bit but I think it is worth the nasty! I feel so much better when I get into the habit of doing it everyday! Sometime I lapse and forget about it for while, the sinus pressure builds and I am crying until I get that saline water through my nostrils! I recommend - Doing it in the shower (cleansing your sinuses, get your mind out of the gutter) - Boil the water in a tea pot because if you don't you can get bacteria in your sinuses which can be worse than allergens. - And never doing it in front of anyone else because you never know what is going to come out of your nostrils! ewwww. We are going to end on a pretty note...Fall is a great time to not only change up your moisturizing regime, to exfoliate your lips, and cleanse your sinuses but it is also a great time to play with your make up routine. DARK LIPS, bold colors, deep hues, reds, purples, oranges, don't be afraid, just do it - as they say!
Have fun, fall is full of things changing, protecting themselves and growing into the new chapter. Takes notes from nature and be beautiful! xox, kp I love wearing all black errthang as much as the next fashionista but fall doesn't have to mean the end of colors in your #OOTD. (For those of you living under a rock that is - Outfit Of The Day!) In Minneapolis we have had beautiful weather this fall, getting a little bit of rain currently but lovely weather for the most part; The days have been crisp and I have been taking full advantage. I am not ready to give up the summer heels. These Steve Maddens have been the loves of my life recently. Purchased at a discount retailer where designer goods get the brands crossed out with a permanent marker, the prices gets slashed and shoppers reap the benefits of fast fashion cycles and overzealous department store buyers. This caramel turtle neck is MODA | International that was purchased during a thrift store haul. Originally this was a dress that landed just above the knee with a weird ruffle that I didn't like. I ended up cutting the bottom half off, so it went from a short dress to a long top and now I love it. Now lets go GA-GA over these egg-shell blue, high waisted, perfectly fitted, skinny, boot cut, corduroy pants!
Hmmm.. how do these unique pants fit me so perfectly and compliment my wardrobe so well? Because they were made for me, literally, by a talented designer named Natalia, of Style by Natalia. A wonderful woman from Belarus that I met at a Fashion Network Happy Hour that Sol Inspirations hosted, she now works with SOL all the time and I am lucky enough to have two pieces she created for me and even more lucky to call her a friend. Fall is the perfect time to keep rocking these staples of your summer wardrobe mixed with different pieces from your winter wardrobe. Throw in a pastel pair of pants with a neutral top, IF YOU DARE. Rock a Merlot Lip with a burnt orange anything and don't think twice about putting socks under your favorite summer heels; My girl Davee can teach you a thing or two about socks and shoes! A dark lip can really bring a look from June to October really quickly, as well as tights or or anything with dark leather. Enjoy the turning of the leaves and spend some time outside while the sun is still warm! xox, kp Holy crap I want to talk about this skirt!! I have had it forever but I fall in love with it again every single time I put it on. It can make any hum drum top look amazing and sometimes I even steam it! Winky face. (In no way am I saying that this top is hum-drum.) I have this secret store that is stocked with things that department stores would otherwise have to throw away, so these things weren't necessarily made with any environmental consciousness or any social initiatives but every girl falls to a designer name every now and again. These amazing sandals are Guess, and so is the trench coat, which I thrifted last year. This trench is the perfect classic color but honestly the buckets on the three quarter length arm never stay buckled so I am contemplating how to solve this issue but I rock it none the less because it is so perfect in all of it's other details. This amazing sweater is Seams Vintage, a local brand, one woman actually, who takes used garments and gives them new life. The brand's ascetic is very minimalistic and feminine, with a nostalgic twist. I should totally make subtle studs my thing. Apparently sticking out my belly is my thing too. haha. Adorbs.
Fall is not the time to start dressing like an eskimo, there is plenty of time for that! SKIRTS & OPEN TOES FOR DAYS! xox, kp |
